Smart Details is recently released product for Revit® users that had great attention from the engineering community. That’s why we can’t stop and must work to make this tool even better.
New update is available with a bunch of new impressive features.
Auto Insert – new command lets you insert details based on the shared parameter value, which is entered in the element properties before you Auto Insert details.
Enter name of Details Configuration into the elements Shared Parameter – Smart Detail Configuration.
Select elements with this parameter and click on Auto Insert. Details will be automatically created under the configuration name entered in this shared parameter.
Shared parameter “Smart Detail Configuration” can be used inside a family and can be prepared with various Configuration Names based on some family parameters or formulas. This shared parameter can be found in Smart Details’ Metric or Imperial libraries (C:UsersUserAppDataRoamingTOOLS 4 BIM2016Smart Details16.2.60121.0Smart DetailsLibrariesMetric).
New ways to control detail orientation

Flip by X Axis lets you insert same family at both ends of your element in the way you need.
Flip by Y Axis will let you flip direction on the other side:
Top by Project
This command flips your detail according to the orientation of your host element. Top of host element can be as it is in the project, or as it is in the host family.
If the checkbox Top by Project is not ticked – result will be like in the image below. That means details will be placed on left side of the element taking that Top of the element is as it is in the Family.
