U.S. preconstruction expert: “My productivity rose 60% with AGACAD’s framing tools”
Bobby Stiles, the founder of Florida-based Preconstruction with Stiles LLC, says his BIM modeling and metal stud consulting business got a big boost from AGACAD’s light gauge steel framing solutions for Revit®.
Preconstruction with Stiles LLC is a U.S. provider of BIM and as-built data services with special expertise in metal framing. The company works on public infrastructure (hospitals, airports, schools) and large commercial projects (retail, hotels, residential).
The consulting and 3D-modeling that Preconstruction with Stiles LLC does helps clients ensure their building projects are functionally viable and that they get a reliable cost estimate and schedule.
The company was doing its metal-framing work for walls and floors manually in Autodesk® Revit®. Output had to be integrated with BIM models from other trades for checks and coordination in Navisworks® project review software.
“We do pre-detailing of light gauge metal studs to provide strong constructability tactics, dialogue, review of documents, and analysis,” notes Bobby Stiles, the company’s President. “I preferred working straight out of Revit over the hard-to-use and very costly add-ons I’d tried.”
But that was an unsatisfactory and time-consuming approach. So he continued searching for a more user-friendly and reasonably-priced solution.
Mr Stiles discovered AGACAD’s metal framing add-ons through recordings of the company’s webinars on YouTube. “I found the webinars had great insights, and that led me to look at their products too,” he says. After trialing the BIM software, he was convinced. He first got a license for the Metal Framing Wall+ app and later added Metal Framing Floor+ as well.
AGACAD’s Metal Framing solutions automate light-gauge steel framing work in Revit®. They’re powerful, flexible, and easy to use, helping AEC clients make optimal choices, move faster, and avoid errors at every BIM stage – from design and documentation to panel fabrication and construction.
Mr Stiles liked the simple framing engine, which is used for generating metal-framing members for walls and floors based on rules and templates. It supports an unlimited number of layers and is fully scalable: from simple structures to complex, multi-level buildings. It’s easy to find clashes in models, and frames update and adapt for every change. He could also now perform structural analysis without leaving Revit, for example.
“Wall+ and Floor + are great tools that let me keep up with the demands of working on multiple projects. My productivity has increased by 60%,” Mr Stiles notes. He’s also impressed by AGACAD’s valuable ongoing support.
“Technical support has been super. My overall experience with the team and the software is great. I look forward to using more AGACAD tools for Revit in the future as my company grows,” he says.
This client relationship exemplifies “Securing BIM Benefits!” – a principle behind AGACAD’s work. Our goal is to make it easy to access the time/cost savings and quality improvements that Building Information Modelling offers.
