In August we were in Toronto for BILT North America. Now, we’re getting ready to head to BILT Europe, which will be held October 5-7 in Aarhus, Denmark. We hope many of you will be able to come, and if you are, please come visit us at booth 20!
Along with all of our BIM Solutions software, our engineers Jokubas and Valensas and CEO Donatas are excited to show something else as well: where we see BIM heading. Imagine you’re walking through a building and when you look at something — a door, window, vent, light fixture, anything in your model — you see all and only the information you need.
Here at AGACAD, that’s what we envision. A whole new realm of possibilities is opening up with AR (Augmented Reality) and BIM working together. We’ll be showing a cloud-based solution for classification of elements called BIMAXON. The principal of BIMAXON is to collect all needed data into a common data environment (CDE) and then distribute only the necessary data to the relevant person(s) and devices at just the right time throughout a building’s lifecycle. (You can read more about BIMAXON at our CEO Donatas Aksomitas’ blog that he started earlier this year.)
BIMAXON is capable of reading and exporting data from Autodesk® Revit®, Autodesk® NavisWorks®, and in the near future we plan to launch it on other BIM-based software. BIMAXON data is collected in cloud-based servers, which can be accessed by a device, like a phone, tablet, or headgear. The latter, however, brings AR (Augmented Reality) into the picture by using a device like Microsoft® HoloLens®, which can be used for Facility Management. We have already used our BIM workflow for existing buildings that do not have a BIM model by using 3D-reality-capturing technology in combination with CDE and AR: we scan the building, collect the data in the cloud, and then display it through HoloLens.

What is BILT?
It’s basically a gathering of BIM experts from around the world to learn from each other. Although the conference has undergone a name-change – formerly known as the Revit Technology Conference (RTC) – it draws Revit professionals (like us!) and, at the same time, seeks to attract users of other technologies. The BILT Conference serves to reach out to a wider community of professionals who work at various stages along the whole spectrum of a building’s lifecycle. As a dual-purpose acronym, “BILT” stands for “Buildings Infrastructure Lifecycle, supported by Technology” and also “Building and bringing Industry Leadership Together.”
